TimeOP

TimeOP is a automatic time-tracking solution I’m developing together with Radu Contes. It allows you to see on what activities you and your team waste the most time, when you are productive, when you are focused… and when you are not.

The problem it solves is the problem of endless distractions and interuptions. Techcrunch, Twitter, Facebook, FarmVille and Mafia Wars – the list goes on and on. There is no shortage of things that eat away at your time.

If this weren’t bad enough, Web 2.0 takes away the attention of your employees and collaborators. That’s right, you just might be paying people to surf the web doing nothing instead of focusing on the job they were hired to do.

And it happens more often than one would think. For instance, social not-working is estimated to have cost UK business alone over 13. billion £ in 2009. And these numbers are on the rise.

No one is saying relaxing activities should be banned from the workplace. To the contrary: studies have shown that browsing the web at the workplace for up to 20% of the time can increase productivity. However, this habit needs to be kept under control, before it turns into an addiction.

Also, by using TimeOP you can:

  • Gain the trust of your customers by showing them how the hours you have billed them were spent.
  • Continually evaluate the performance and focus of your team.
  • Keep track of budgeted and actual billable hours (down to the second) without any effort. Integrated billing system coming soon.
  • Pin-point procrastinators who periodically postpone deadlines and critical tasks because they have to water their pigs on FarmVille.
  • Assign tasks, manage projects and track the team from the same dashboard.

More to come.

For now, just sign-up for TimeOP, while it’s still free (for personal use only).
